ACME BEER was inspired by Acme Beer Company's use of sex to market its product. Exploring the history of sex and alcohol is a facet of society which can not be ignored, and should be a part of the Drunken Cubist series. Acme used alluring illustrations of women enjoying a beer as an integral part of their marketing plan. I re-drew many of the illustrations, paying particular attention to the women's most appealing features. I chose a limited pallet because Greorges Braque and Pablo Picasso had great successes with it during their discoveries of cubism; consequently Acme used limited colors in their advertisements. Areas of the painting have magenta mixed in with some of the white. These areas allude to the sexual features of the female form. Acme Beer was brewed and sold from 1907 to 1979. The company used wonderful artwork to appeal to the working class man; today I use fine art to appeal to all minds of interest.
